Jeder Stream muss zählen! Deutscher Musikrat fordert Stopp der geplanten Vergütungsveränderung von Spotify

Spotify hat angekündigt, sein Abrechnungsmodell ab 2024 zu verändern: Vergütet werden sollen dann nur noch Tracks, die pro Jahr mindestens 1000 Mal von einer Mindestanzahl von User:innen gestreamt werden. Zudem sollen Tracks erst ab dem Monat von Spotify vergütet werden, in dem sie erstmalig 1000 Streams erreichen. Die Erträge aller Tracks, die diese Schwelle von 1000 Streams pro Jahr nicht erreichen, sollen an die Musiker:innen verteilt werden, die nach den neuen Spotify-Kriterien Anspruch auf Vergütung haben. Dies würde zu einer Umverteilung der Streaming-Erlöse in Millionenhöhe führen.

Hierzu Prof. Christian Höppner, Generalsekretär des Deutschen Musikrates: „Der Deutsche Musikrat fordert Spotify nachdrücklich dazu auf, von seiner geplanten Vergütungsveränderung Abstand zu nehmen! Die von Spotify angekündigte veränderte Vergütung ist willkürlich, unfair und schadet vor allem den Newcomer:innen und Nischenkünstler:innen, die mit ihrer Musik einen (noch) kleinen Fankreis haben. Musikerinnen und Musiker müssen fair bezahlt, also auch fair an den Streaming-Erlösen für ihre Arbeit beteiligt werden – ob Weltstar oder kleiner, lokaler Act. Zumal es Streamingdienste zu großen Teilen selbst in der Hand haben, welche Künstler:innen sichtbar und erfolgreich auf ihren Plattformen sind. Es ist Spotifys Verantwortung, dafür zu sorgen, dass die Vergütung in seinem Streaming-Dienst verlässlich und transparent geschieht, anstatt ‚Bagatellgrenzen‘ einzuführen, damit einzelne Gruppen zu benachteiligen und der Kulturellen Vielfalt massiv zu schaden.“

Der Deutsche Musikrat unterstützt die Forderungen von „Pro Musik – Verband freier Musikschaffender“,  der die Petition zum Stopp der Vergütungsveränderung initiiert hat.

Promoting young musicians in the ensemblesof the German Music Council also includes performing on stage in front of an audience. The project leaders are happy to accept requests for engagements. The German Music Competition concert promotion program arranges approximately 200 concerts a year for concert organizers and concert series.
