THE GERMAN MUSIC COUNCIL gGmbH
For a sustainable and vibrant musical life
Since 2003, the German Music Council has bundled all its funding measures in a non-profit project company (gGmbH) based in Bonn. More than 70 employees are committed to the continuing existence of a vibrant musical life in Germany. In addition to supporting both professional and amateur musicians, the project company also supports young musicians in the fields of jazz, pop, and contemporary music.
The Deutscher Musikrat gGmbH maintains the German Music Information Center (miz) and organizes the DMR's thirteen long-term projects:
- 3 ensembles: German Youth Orchestra, German Youth Choir, German Jazz Orchestra
- 6 competitions: Jugend musiziert, Jugend jazzt, German Music Competition, German Orchestra Competition, German Choir Competition, German Conducting Award
- 4 funding programs: German Music Competition concert promotion, Conducting Forum, Podium Gegenwart, PopCamp
- and the German Music Information Center (miz)
It is also responsible for temporary funding programs such as NEUSTART KULTUR.
In addition to providing impetus for musical life, the projects of the German Music Council are effective ambassadors for our music policy goals.
