Der Bundesjugendchor, 2021 in der Trägerschaft des Deutschen Musikrates gegründet, begibt sich im Jahr des 300-jährigen Jubiläums von Johann Sebastian Bachs Amtsantritt als Kantor der Thomaskirche in Leipzig auf die Spuren des meistgespielten Komponisten aller Zeiten. Im Konzertprogramm „Bach im Spiegel“ korrespondieren Bachs doppelchörige Motetten mit Meilensteinen der Chormusikgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts von György Ligeti, Arnold Schönberg, Caroline Shaw und Dieter Schnebel. Darüber hinaus hat der Deutsche Musikrat einen Kompositionsauftrag vergeben. In der Vokalkomposition „Jesu, my Delighting“ setzt sich die englische Komponistin Roxanna Panufnik mit Bachs Motette „Jesu, meine Freude“ BWV 227 auseinander. Der Bundesjugendchor gibt mit diesem Konzert sein Hamburg-Debüt und gastiert beim Musikalischen Sommer in Ostfriesland, beim Bachfest Eutin-Plön sowie in der Sophienkirche in Berlin.

Der Bundesjugendchor probte im Juli und August in der Landesmusikakademie in Schlitz (Hessen) und erarbeitete unter der Leitung von Anne Kohler das Jahresprogramm „Bach im Spiegel“. Eigens für die jungen Sänger*innen des Bundesjugendchores wurde dieses Jahr wieder ein Werk in Auftrag gegeben: Die englische Komponistin Roxanna Panufnik, die zuvor eine Komposition zur Krönung von King Charles beisteuerte, ergründete anhand eines detaillierten Fragebogens die musikalischen Vorlieben der Sänger*innen und ihre Verbindung zu Johann Sebastian Bach. So konnten die Sänger*innen bereits im Vorfeld Wünsche etwa zu Rhythmus und Gestaltung des Werks äußern, die Roxanna Panufnik in die Auftragskomposition integrierte. In Schlitz erforschte der Bundesjugendchor gemeinsam mit der Komponistin, welche Bedeutung Johann Sebastian Bach für unser heutiges Musizieren immer noch hat.

Musicians can sing or play in the ensembles of the German Music Council, the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Federal Jazz Orchestra and the Federal Youth Choir, and take part in competitions. Promoting young musicians in the ensemblesof the German Music Council also includes performing on stage in front of an audience. The project leaders are happy to accept requests for engagements. The German Music Competition concert promotion program arranges approximately 200 concerts a year for concert organizers and concert series.
