Felix Freitag übernimmt Leitung Forum Dirigieren

Neue Führung beim Forum Dirigieren: Am 1. Mai 2024 übernimmt Felix Freitag die Leitung des Projektes im Deutschen Musikrat. Mit einer umfassenden 20-jährigen Branchenerfahrung in verantwortungsvollen Positionen im Künstler- und Orchestermanagement bringt Felix Freitag ein reichhaltiges Portfolio an Fachkenntnissen mit. Die bisherige Leiterin, Eva Pegel, wird eine neue Herausforderung im künstlerischen Betriebsbüro des ACHT BRÜCKEN Festivals in Köln annehmen.

Felix Freitag studierte Angewandte Kulturwissenschaften und Betriebswirtschaft. Nach Stationen bei der Jungen Deutschen Philharmonie und beim Philharmonischen Orchester Heidelberg leitete er die Orchester- und Tourneeabteilung der Concerto Winderstein GmbH in München. Die von ihm gegründete Agentur freitag artists vertritt weltbekannte Künstler:innen ebenso wie junge, noch am Beginn ihrer Karriere stehende Musiker:innen.

„Ich sehe es als große Ehre und Privileg an, auf dieser besonderen Position die Arbeit des Deutschen Musikrates mitgestalten zu dürfen“, sagt Freitag. „Das Forum Dirigieren ist das wesentliche Förderprogramm für den dirigentischen Nachwuchs in Deutschland. Hier neue Schwerpunkte zu setzen und mein internationales Netzwerk einbringen zu können, ist eine spannende Aufgabe, auf die ich mich sehr freue.“ 

Das Forum Dirigieren fördert seit über 30 Jahren den dirigentischen Spitzennachwuchs in Deutschland. Junge Talente erhalten unter anderem in Meisterkursen bei renommierten Persönlichkeiten – darunter Herbert Blomstedt, Sian Edwards und Jukka-Pekka Saraste – in den Sparten Orchester- und Chordirigieren wichtige Impulse für ihre musikalische Karriere. Manche Alumni des Forum Dirigieren leiten inzwischen selbst Kurse, darunter Gabriel Feltz, Cornelius Meister und Yuval Weinberg. Weitere Alumni sind unter anderem Kevin John Edusei, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla und Marie Jacquot. Neben den Kursen sind die Ausrichtung des German Conducting Award und des Deutschen Chordirigentenpreises wichtige Schwerpunkte.

Das erste größere Projekt, das Felix Freitag als Projektleiter des Forum Dirigieren mitgestalten wird, ist der Wettbewerb um den Deutschen Chordirigentenpreis. Dieser wird vom 7. bis 12. Oktober 2024 in Kooperation mit dem RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin stattfinden. Den Juryvorsitz hat erstmalig Prof. Florian Helgath inne.

Musicians can sing or play in the ensembles of the German Music Council, the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Federal Jazz Orchestra and the Federal Youth Choir, and take part in competitions. With four other projects in the area of promotion, the German Music Council supports young, highly talented musicians, conductors, composers and interpreters of contemporary music as well as pop musicians on their way to a professional musical life and builds a bridge between musicians, organizers and the public. In addition, the German Music Information Center (miz) offers a central information point on all topics of musical life.

 

 

The German Music Council is the sponsor of the competitions for children and young people: Jugend musiziert and Jugend jazzt, the competitions for professional musicians: the German Music Competition, the German Conducting Award (formerly the German Conducting Prize) and the German Choral Conducting Award, as well as the competitions for amateur musicians: theGerman Choir Competition and the German Orchestra Competition.

The German Music Council (Deutscher Musikrat e. V.) is the mouthpiece and initiator of music policy issues for its members.

Promoting young musicians in the ensemblesof the German Music Council also includes performing on stage in front of an audience. The project leaders are happy to accept requests for engagements. The German Music Competition concert promotion program arranges approximately 200 concerts a year for concert organizers and concert series.

Music educators will find concepts and working materials for music lessons at the Podium Gegenwart's educational projects. Current developments in music policy and studies can be found in the "Music Education" section, as well as specialist articles on this topic at the German Music Information Center.
