Stephan Schulmeistrat ist neuer Präsident der Internationalen Vereinigung der Musikzentren (IAMIC)

Neue Vize-Präsidentin wird Deborah Keyser

Die Internationale Vereinigung der Musikzentren (IAMIC) hat den Leiter des Deutschen Musikinformationszentrums Stephan Schulmeistrat einstimmig zum neuen Präsidenten gewählt. Er folgt auf Diana Marsh (Neuseeland), die das Amt seit 2021 innehatte. Schulmeistrat gehört dem IAMIC-Präsidium seit 2021 an, 2022 übernahm er die Position des Vizepräsidenten.

„Es ist mir eine große Ehre und Herausforderung, unsere internationale Gemeinschaft, in der wir das reiche und vielfältige Musikleben unserer Länder vereinen, in dieser besonderen Position mitzugestalten. Gemeinsam mit dem Präsidium möchte ich unser Netzwerk durch innovative Ansätze weiterentwickeln, um die kulturelle Bedeutung der Musik weltweit zu fördern“, sagt Schulmeistrat.

Deborah Keyser, CEO von Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales, wurde zur neuen Vizepräsidentin ernannt. Sie ist seit 2018 Mitglied des IAMIC-Präsidiums.

Schulmeistrat würdigte seine Vorgängerin Diana Marsh, CEO von SOUNZ, Centre for New Zealand Music, für ihr Engagement in einer Zeit herausfordernder Ereignisse wie der Corona-Pandemie und weltweiten Krisen. „Sie hat unser Netzwerk mit professioneller Hand und Weitblick geführt und die Mitglieder weiter zusammenrücken lassen“, so Schulmeistrat.

Die IAMIC ist ein weltweites Netzwerk von mehr als 35 Musikorganisationen, das sich der Stärkung der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung seiner Mitglieder und dem Zugang zu deren Ressourcen und Fachwissen widmet. Weiterführende Informationen zur IAMIC finden Sie hier sowie auf der Website www.iamic.net.

Das Deutsche Musikinformationszentrum (miz) unter dem Dach des Deutschen Musikrates ist der IAMIC seit seiner Gründung 1998 verbunden. 2022 richtete es die Jahrestagung der Musikinformationszentren in Hamburg, Bonn und Köln aus.

Musicians can sing or play in the ensembles of the German Music Council, the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Federal Jazz Orchestra and the Federal Youth Choir, and take part in competitions. With four other projects in the area of promotion, the German Music Council supports young, highly talented musicians, conductors, composers and interpreters of contemporary music as well as pop musicians on their way to a professional musical life and builds a bridge between musicians, organizers and the public. The German Music Council is the sponsor of the competitions for children and young people: Jugend musiziert and Jugend jazzt, the competitions for professional musicians: the German Music Competition, the German Conducting Award (formerly the German Conducting Prize) and the German Choral Conducting Award, as well as the competitions for amateur musicians: theGerman Choir Competition and the German Orchestra Competition.

Promoting young musicians in the ensemblesof the German Music Council also includes performing on stage in front of an audience. The project leaders are happy to accept requests for engagements. The German Music Competition concert promotion program arranges approximately 200 concerts a year for concert organizers and concert series.

Music educators will find concepts and working materials for music lessons at the Podium Gegenwart's educational projects. Current developments in music policy and studies can be found in the "Music Education" section, as well as specialist articles on this topic at the German Music Information Center.
