Nachwuchs trifft Profi

Bundesjazzorchester & WDR Big Band gehen unter der Leitung von Niels Klein und Steffen Schorn auf Tour

Voneinander lernen – das steht im Mittelpunkt der Zusammenarbeit zwischen der WDR Big Band und dem Bundesjazzorchester. Zum sechsten Mal treffen vom 16. bis 21. September 2024 die renommierten Profis auf den vielsprechenden Jazz-Nachwuchs. Coachings, Workshops, Gedankenaustausch, gemeinsame Proben und anschließende Konzerte in Ahaus (20.9.) und Bielefeld (21.9.) sind geplant. Musikalisch geleitet wird das Projekt von Niels Klein (Bujazzo) und Steffen Schorn (WDR Big Band). 

Alle zwei Jahre aufs Neue profitieren die jungen Musikerinnen und Musiker des Bundesjazzorchesters von dieser lebendigen Kooperation. Das Bujazzo wird bei diesem Projekt von Niels Klein geleitet, der mit dem Ensemble eigene ausgewählte Kompositionen präsentiert. Seine Musik für Bigband spannt weite erzählerische Bögen und lässt dabei viel Raum und Freiheit für die Solistinnen und Solisten des Ensembles. Kompositionen wie „The 14th Voyage“ und „Astray“ verarbeiten dabei literarische Science-Fiction-Einflüsse und verbinden farbenreiche Harmonien mit mitreißenden Grooves.

Die WDR Big Band wird von Steffen Schorn geleitet. Der Komponist, Dirigent und Multiinstrumentalist war selbst Mitglied im Bundesjazzorchester (1989-1991) und bereits mehrere Male als Gastdozent und künstlerischer Leiter beim Bujazzo. 

Ins Leben gerufen wurde die Zusammenarbeit der beiden Ensembles 2010 als „tutti pro“-Patenschaft. „Tutti pro“ ist eine gemeinsame Initiative der Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (JMD), der Deutschen Orchestervereinigung (DOV) und dem Verband deutscher Musikschulen (VdM). 

Ausgezeichnete Vielfalt und ewige Jugend machen das Bundesjazzorchester aus. 1988 von Peter Herbolzheimer gegründet, gilt das Bujazzo, wie es liebevoll genannt wird, als ausgezeichnete Talentschmiede für zukünftige Jazzmusikerinnen und Jazzmusiker.

Musicians can sing or play in the ensembles of the German Music Council, the Federal Youth Orchestra, the Federal Jazz Orchestra and the Federal Youth Choir, and take part in competitions. With four other projects in the area of promotion, the German Music Council supports young, highly talented musicians, conductors, composers and interpreters of contemporary music as well as pop musicians on their way to a professional musical life and builds a bridge between musicians, organizers and the public. Promoting young musicians in the ensemblesof the German Music Council also includes performing on stage in front of an audience. The project leaders are happy to accept requests for engagements. The German Music Competition concert promotion program arranges approximately 200 concerts a year for concert organizers and concert series.
