Prof. Ulrich Rademacher
For Ulrich Rademacher, active music making, pedagogical activity, and the creation of framework conditions for a musical life characterized by diversity, quality, and access for all are inseparably intertwined. Drawing on this conviction and passion, he has worked in various fields of activity. He has performed throughout the world as a chamber musician and song accompanist, developed music training programs such as "To Every Child His Voice" as Director of the Westphalian School of Music, and founded numerous successful youth ensembles as well as one of the first youth academies for the support and training of highly gifted students in cooperation with a music university. In addition, as Chairman of the Association of German Music Schools, he, along with the Rectors' Conference of the German Music Universities, initiated the Music Education Competition, and as Chairman of the Project Advisory Board of Jugend musiziert, he opened up the competition to in-tercultural offerings and to the new, stylistically unrestricted category "Jumu Open". He has been a member of the German Music Council’s Executive Committee for two terms and chairs the Federal Expert Committee on Education as well as the Project Advisory Board of Jugend musiziert. As a university teacher for song interpretation and accompaniment, he has worked in Aachen and Karls-ruhe, and is currently a professor at the Cologne University of Music.
