JOBS

The Deutsche Musikrat (German Music Council , DMR) is the umbrella organisation for musical life in Germany and is under the patronage of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The DMR is committed to the interests of around 15 million people who make music and is the organiser of renowned funding projects.

Our long-term, nationwide sponsorship projects cover the spectrum from classical to jazz to pop, from professionals to amateurs, of national and international importance and take all age groups into account. These projects have been valued for decades as institutions of musical life and have acquired a beacon character. In this form, the non-profit limited company of the Deutscher Musikrat with its approximately 70 employees forms an operational centre of excellence that is unique worldwide.

The Bundesjazzorchester (Bujazzo) is the top youth orchestra for jazz in Germany. For almost 40 years, the Deutsche Musikrat has dedicated itself to promoting particularly talented young German jazz musicians with this ensemble. Founded in 1988 by Peter Herbolzheimer, the Bujazzo is regarded as a valuable link between education and career and as an excellent talent factory for the successful jazz musicians of tomorrow. The Bujazzo line-up changes every two years. Well-known jazz greats such as Till Brönner, Julia Hülsmann, Tom Gaebel, Jakob Manz, Alma Naidu, Johanna Summer, Nils Wogram, Michael Wollny and Nils Wülker have started their careers here. Bujazzo's main sponsor is the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ).

Two artistic directors, a team of lecturers and the project team are responsible for the continuous artistic and educational work on a homogeneous, characteristic sound of the top ensemble and a groundbreaking programme that suits the ensemble. The artistic directors are appointed for a period of 4 years.
